Nisha Patel
Registered Marriage & Family Therapy Intern
Nisha Patel holds a Master of Science in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Maryland and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Florida. During her training, she provided therapy through the Center for Healthy Families, working with individuals, couples, and families navigating a range of relational and life challenges. Her clinical experience has centered on supporting clients through life transitions, identity development, and interpersonal stressors, with a focus on understanding how relationships, culture, and broader systems shape each person’s story.
Nisha approaches therapy with the belief that many of the struggles people face don’t exist in isolation—they are often rooted in patterns, relationships, and experiences that deserve to be understood with care and curiosity. She works from a systemic lens, helping clients slow down and make sense of recurring dynamics in their lives, whether that shows up as anxiety, emotional reactivity, or feeling stuck in certain roles or cycles. Her style is calm, direct, and intentional, offering a balance of warmth, gentle challenge, and moments of humor to help clients feel more at ease and connected in the process. She integrates approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy, tailoring her work to each client’s unique needs and goals.
Nisha enjoys working with individuals, couples, and adult families, particularly those navigating anxiety, relationship concerns, and periods of change or uncertainty. She supports clients in better understanding their internal experiences, building emotional awareness, and developing more grounded, effective ways of responding to stress. Nisha is deeply committed to culturally responsive care and approaches each client with openness, humility, and respect for their lived experiences, identities, and values. She strives to create a space where clients feel safe to show up fully as themselves while feeling both supported and empowered in their growth.
